Job Opportunity: Insect Education Student Lead - Insects Everywhere ProgramEvent Date: Saturday, April 18th, 2026, from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Location: Zaniac Biltmore Park and NEMA Lab (training session) Are you looking for a fun, high-energy way to gain leadership experience? We are seeking enthusiastic undergraduate students to help facilitate a community engagement event for 20 curious young explorers (Grades K-2). No expert entomology knowledge is required, just a positive attitude, energy to play with little ones, and a willingness to get hands-on with nature! The RoleAs a Student Lead, you will coordinate group activities designed to teach children about the fascinating world of insects. Engagement: Lead hands-on crafts and observation-based activities. Bug Handling: While the focus is on crafts, you must be comfortable handling insects to demonstrate for the children. Supervision: Manage a small group of children, ensuring they stay safe, engaged, and curious.
Requirements & LogisticsMandatory Training: Friday, April 17th, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the NEMA Lab at UNC Asheville (Zeis 234). Compliance: Selected candidates must pass a State Background Check and complete a brief University minor-safety training. Previous Experience: Experience with insects is a plus, but not required.
Compensation$160 Total Pay (Covers both the Saturday event and the Friday training session). Payment will be processed following the completion of the event.
