Dr. Melissa Mahoney, Associate Professor of Economics, is seeking a rising junior with a strong interest in economic policy to join a faculty-led research project focused on developing policy product(s) related to pressing economic issues—such as but not limited to labor market trends, the future of work, and post-graduate employment outcomes. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to applied research with real-world impact. Role and Responsibilities: The selected student will work closely with Dr. Mahoney and take an active role in: Conducting literature reviews and background research Gathering and analyzing data on relevant economic policy topics Drafting and editing sections of a professional policy products Contributing to the visual design and presentation of research findings (e.g., infographics, charts, product design) Presenting the work at the Undergraduate Research Symposium or a similar venue Assisting in designing and conducting interviews or surveys with stakeholders (e.g., employers)
The student is expected to dedicate 5–6 hours per week to the project from August 2025 through May 2026, with the potential to continue over the summer and into next academic year. Compensation is $16 per hour to start.
