This position will work directly with Dr. Muhammad Nawaz in Economics. The research assistant position will be responsible for assisting Dr. Nawaz with Summer 2025 research per his University Research Council grant allocation. The student will work directly with Dr. Nawaz conducting research and will have the opportunity to collaborate in all aspects of research. Specific activities may include reviewing the literature; data collection, analysis, and presentation; writing grant applications, reports and research articles; among other activities. Student work may lead to special opportunities such as presentations at conferences and coauthored journal submissions. The position will allow the Department of Economics to fulfill our mission of providing students excellent teaching, mentoring and undergraduate research opportunities while simultaneously achieving our stated mission of encouraging faculty learning and scholarship. Successful applicants will possess the following characteristics: Interest in conducting research in economics Background in economics; preference given to students who have completed ECON 365 with major or minor in Economics Experience with economic data including data management, presentation & interpretation Have an ability to handle large scale data (panel data or cross-sectional data) Proven ability to work well without direct supervision Flexibility and self-motivation Basic statistical skills and can use statistical packages Commitment to working as an RA for several months
