Dr. Leah Mathews, of the Economics Department, seeks a Research Assistant to support ongoing projects.
Applicants need not be an Economics major or minor though interest in learning economics through the work is essential. Students seeking to hone research and communication skills, and explore the intersections between economics and pop culture, will find the most joy in this work. The RA will be responsible for assisting with literature searches and review, organizing research materials, preparing non-technical research summaries, and other assignments as needed depending on project workflow. This position will improve writing skills, digital literacy, critical thinking skills, research skills (especially data organization and analysis), and professionalism. This position will report directly to Dr. Leah Greden Mathews.
The hired RA must be able to commit to up to 5 hours of work per week during the Summer 2026 semester, with likliehood of rehire for the 26-27 academic year. Pay is $15/hour.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and organizational skills, prioritization, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience with Google Suite Apps such as Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides is required.
- Helpful experience: Knowledge and practice with creative software such as Canva, Pictochart, or Adobe Creative Suite.
