Job Description |
Position Overview Office Assistants support the UNCA community by serving as a student representative and point of contact for the Office of Housing and Residence Life. The Office Assistant's primary function is to be a knowledgeable resource for students regarding all things related to housing and campus life. Office Assistants monitor our telephones and emails, assist with lock-out requests, and support the Housing and Residence Life team by performing various administrative tasks. Responsibilities - Abide by all policies and procedures as indicated in the Office Assistant Manual.
- Support, communicate, enforce and abide by all University and departmental policies and procedures
- Assist the Hall Directors and Residence Assistants with administrative tasks as assigned
- Answer any questions we receive from phone calls, emails, or walk-in visitors
- Assist with the opening, closing and transition of residence halls
- Serve as a customer service representative for the residence hall, which includes (but is not limited to) greeting guests, answering phones, answering questions and providing necessary follow-up.
- Assist residents, guests and the UNCA community by serving as a resource for accurate information concerning Housing, Residence Life and University operations
- Support residence hall staff in emergencies and crises
- Report all emergencies and crises to the appropriate staff
- Comply with University confidentiality requirements
- Perform other duties consistent with the purpose of the position as assigned

Qualifications - Must be a full-time degree-seeking student
- Have a minimum cumulative UNCA grade point average of 2.5 at the time of application (continuing students)
- Maintain a minimum cumulative UNCA grade point average of 2.5 during the period of employment
- Maintain good standing with the Office of Student Conduct
- Demonstrate ability to think critically, problem solve, and make decisions
- Strong relationship building and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
