The UNC Asheville Career Center is looking for enthusiastic students to join the Career Peer team for Fall 2025! About the Role: Career Peers serve as the backbone of the office and handle many functions, including outreach and tabling, drop-in appointments, and event support. A successful applicant will possess strong customer service skills, the desire to help their fellow students in career exploration and readiness, and the ability to complete projects as assigned in a timely manner. We are especially looking for candidates who have experience with social media and are interested in contributing to the planning, creation, and management of content for our Career Center social media accounts. Our peers are the first to know about internships and employers visiting campus-- it’s a great opportunity to help your fellow students while jump-starting your own career! We are hiring to fill one open position for Fall 2025 and would love to hire a student who will continue to work with the Career Center until they graduate. Essential Duties: Assist with the creation and scheduling of social media content to promote Career Center resources, events, and services Conduct outreach on campus by assisting with tabling and marketing efforts Meet one-on-one with students and alumni to provide information and feedback on topics such as resume reviews, cover letter reviews, and more (training is provided on all career-related topics) Work collaboratively as part of the Career Center team to plan and execute successful events on campus Perform administrative duties during all scheduled shifts, including but not limited to: checking students in for appointments, answering phones and emails, and managing mail Support the Career Center professional staff by completing projects as assigned in a timely manner Build rapport with students, professional staff, and community partners to ensure a welcoming and credible environment for all, and encourage students to utilize all available Career Center resources Other duties as assigned
Note: Career Peers tend to have special projects as a part of their experience with the Career Center. This is based on the student's interests and areas for growth. Some examples of past projects include: planning a panel, designing social media or marketing materials, giving presentations, and videography projects. |
