The UX/Design Intern will help design software and platforms that meet people’s needs, following human-centered design principles. Specifically, the UX/Design intern will assist NEMAC staff with conducting, assembling, and analyzing User Experience (UX) research. Examples of research activities include user interviews, usability studies, user flows, and card sorting. The UX/Design intern will also learn how to turn research into actionable insights that developers and clients can use to shape products. Deliverables may include personas, journey maps, and other reports. In addition, the UX/Design intern will support design activities such as creating and iterating on wireframes, mockups, and prototypes. No prior experience is required. Curiosity, creativity, and excitement about uncovering what humans want and turning that into effective design are essential. If you are not sure if you are qualified, apply anyway! This internship will start in Fall 2026. NEMAC internships are ongoing, flexible, and may continue until graduation as funding allows. They are also reserved for current UNCA students only. All NEMAC internships require that the student provide a monthly report documenting tasks, accomplishments, and challenges, submitted regularly for mentor evaluation.
