Job Details

Writing Consultants provide one-to-one assistance with writers of all abilities throughout the writing process. Writing consultants assist writers with analysis, research, organization, and development. They model writing and revising strategies and encourage writers to experiment with these strategies. Writing consultants act as sounding boards for writing ideas and help writers overcome anxieties and build confidence in their writing. Writing consultants are expected to answer questions about writing, documentation, resources, research, and the UWC’s programming, philosophy, and pedagogy.
Our Writing Consultants also support and mentor other consultants creating a safe space for all.
Occasionally, writing consultants introduce the UWC to students by visiting classrooms and taking part in University welcome and orientation events.

Must have a working knowledge of the writing process and writing conventions. Must be able to communicate effectively, have a passion for witing and working with student writers.  Applicants must have a faculty recommendation.
